How to join CoD4 Servers with Mods

Image
Once a modded server has been setup correctly and all the files are in place on the server, players can now join. The player needs an IP address to connect to the server. There are many websites where you can find out and browse servers. The most popular one among call of duty 4 players is gametracker.com     Image from Gametracker.com displaying COD4 servers. Once you have the IP address for the server you now need to open your game and connect to it. You can't connect to it from the normal server browser (pictured above). You need to enable the developer console I talked about in previous blogs (needed for fps switching). To enable the console you need to open ->Options->Multiplayer Options->Enable Console->'Yes' Now hit the key to the left of the 1, and type in /connect -followed by the server IP- After hitting enter you should start to connect to the server. Congratulations you can now play a Call of Duty 4 Mod and an automatic download

Call of duty 4 Mods

A user mapping in mod tools The developers for Call of Duty 4 created something called mod tools which allows players or programmers to create their own mods for the game or even make their own map. These tools are available for anyone to download online. Many mods have been made for Cod4 however online some have stood the test of time. Some examples of these mods are my favourite 'Deathrun' and 'Codjumper'. Map making is a hard task for mappers as they have to have a good understanding of where they should place everything. Also will the jumpers have the correct speed to be able to jump as far as they have placed a block/ platform? They have to ask themselves many geographical type questions. Cod4 Map Layouts

Call of duty 4 Bounce on the map Pipeline Call of duty 4 maps were designed very simply but to the experienced player are more complex  than you think. The experienced player can move around the map with great efficiency. In the picture to the right you can see a player aiming his gun at the top of a truck. Due to the angle of the surface if a player jumps onto it they will bounce upwards off it. By changing their FPS they can get even higher off the bounce and land on the building in front. This is just one example of many bounces that you can hit on one of many maps. There is so many different angled surfaces on all the maps in the game that new bounces can still be found to this day.

Introduction to Call of duty 4

Image
๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘ŠCall of duty 4 is one of the most popular call of duty video games, mainly due to the fun of playing it because of the way the maps are laid out and how players can change their frames per second to allow them to move around the map differently. Another attractive feature for the computer version of call of duty 4 is the amount of freedom the user has within the game. It has a console feature which allows users to adjust their settings to optimise gameplay for their setup. For example it allows players to change their frames per second [FPS] as I said. For slower processors there is a fullbright command that makes the game bright and can increase FPS. A fps switching tutorial from the CodJumper website. Codjumper is also a mod on Call of Duty 4 where users can create maps with bounces and jumps for different levelled players to complete. More on Mods and map making in the next post..
